/Editor’s Note/ Ever thought of taking the leap and going natural– but didn’t know what to expect? Our Big Chop Contributor
(aka Big Chop Diva), Shaz Taylor who recently went natural, shares her #bigchop experience with you, freely and openly each Wednesday. Here’s what she had to say this week.xo.Joy
Feeling brand new.
This past week was about showing different sides of my personality through style. I was lucky enough to represent the natural sistas in a 'real brides' photo shoot and can’t wait to share the photos with you! I also spent time with Curl Sistas’ Co-Founder and Creative Director, Joy Adaeze
, updating my bio photos for the site!
Joy and I threw it back to our dorm days at Rutgers. With a closet-full
and accessories, make up, hair tools and great music in the background, we created two stellar looks to share on the blog! I’ve been writing a lot of about being yourself while going through the day-to-day of your natural hair journey, but failed to mention that if personalities are multi-faceted, your hair should be too!
With the help of Joy’s many talents (she did the makeup, hair, styling and photography, ya’ll) I was excitedly able to express two sides of my colorful personality: old soul and quirky. We spent hours running around Harlem taking pictures and stopping traffic. I really hope that you enjoy these new pics as I continue to share my weekly updates!
I am lucky to have a best friend like Joy to pull me out of comfort zones for fashion and hair. Do you have anyone in your life that influences you to take risks with your style? What about a celebrity influencer?

SHAZ'S TEMPORARY OMBRE SIDE PART
/Editor's Note/We used NYC Cosmetics colored mascara in blue
to achieve this dope ombre look! We'll be doing a YouTube video to show how we did it, but in the meantime here's some quick tips.xo.Joy
1. Make a side part in your hair using a rat tail comb and brush
2. Start by applying the blue mascara onto the top part of the hair as seen in photo. Hold the hair at the tip while applying and be careful not to get hair tangled in mascara wand!
3. Add some blue mascara on the outside perimeter of the hair.
4. Add the purple mascara on the inside as seen in photo and you're all set!
5. Mascara washes off fingers in a snap and washes out of hair easily! This is perfect for quick color for a day : )
