Name: Christina Brown
Background: Born and raised in New York!
What do you do? Blogger and Social Media Consultant
How long have you been a natural gal? Since 2005! But, I did have a relapse in 2009, only to big chop again in 2010.
What do you love about being natural? The versatility. I love that you can wear your hair curly, straight or somewhere in between. When you care for your hair properly, the possibilities are endless.
What's your hair regimen? I co-wash weekly and shampoo at least 2-3 times per month. I use a deep conditioner weekly and I typically air dry my hair in flat twists and then take them out for a defined twistout. I also will often blow-dry my hair out lightly at the roots to elongate the curls before twisting. I wear lots of protective styles like extensions and I often alternate between wearing my hair out for 6 weeks and protective styling for 6 weeks.
Top 5 fave hair products?
Agadir International 450 Degree Hair Shield (for heat-straightening!)
How do you describe your fashion style? Chic, Bohemian, Sophisticated. I love prints and bright colors so I'm a boheme in that sense, but I also love crisp blazers and clean lines. I'm a nice mix of uptown and downtown.
What are your fave stores to shop? ASOS, Forever 21, H&M, Zara, the usuals! My new fave is a plus size store called Fashion To Figure. They have the cutest dresses for girls with curves.
Do you have a fave designer? I have a few. Rachel Roy, DVF and Mara Hoffman are a few of my faves.
One item you can't leave home without? My iPhone. We have a codependent relationship.
Fave things to do on the weekend? Shop, go to brunch and play with my baby girl.
Fave travel destinations? U.S. Virgin Islands. My grandfather and that whole side of my family is from there and I absolutely love it. Also, Italy is one of my favorite places in the world. Give me 10 days between Venice, Florence and Rome and I'm a happy woman.
What do you wish for? Happiness and peace. Doesn't everybody, though? I also wish that my daughter has the best and most fulfilled life ever. Everything I do these days is for her.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? That's a really good question, and one I haven't thought about in a long time. Well, I see myself in a home (that I own), doing something I love and can't wait to wake up to every morning, and I see myself raising a beautiful 5 year old girl to be smart, confident and humble.
What's some words of wisdom that you live by? "Everything happens for a reason." When you live by this philosophy it really changes your life. It puts hardships and struggle into perspective.
What makes you smile? My daughter! And cupcakes.
Random fact: I was a spelling bee champion in elementary school. My spelling now, not nearly as great.
