On April 14th in northern Nigeria, approximately 234 girls (between the ages of 15-18) were abducted at gunpoint by Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram to be sold as "wives" for $12 a piece to militants. Word had just now begun to spread about this horrific incident here in the states this week by way of the social media hashtag #bringbackourgirls. Another issue: the Nigerian government has not made efforts to find these girls and bring them home.
Fast forward to today. My friend Gugu Lethu helped organize a rally (Rock A Crown "Headtie" for #234) in Union Square, NYC to bring awareness and the turnout was incredible. Here's a bit of what we captured.
