CurlSista of the Day: Binta from Brooklyn

Name: Binta Diallo, 23

Where do you live? East Flatbush in Brooklyn

What do you do? I am a student. I'm currently pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education and also Child Psychology.

How long have you been a natural gal? I've been natural since 2007.

What do you love about being natural? What I love most about being natural is that there is now this giant market for natural hair. A few years ago that wasn't the case and so seeing so many beautiful bald heads and curly heads gives me a sense of satisfaction and comfort.

What's your hair regimen? I make sure my hair is in contact with water at least once a day (usually when in the shower). I apply the leave in conditioner before I get in the shower, wet it enough to be able to work with it, then once I'm out of the shower, I shake my hair vigorously to kind of let the curls do what they want. After it dries a bit, I rub in some coconut and jojoba oil.

Top 5 fave hair products? 1) hair rules no suds shampoo. 2) hair rules kinky curly conditioner. 3) hair rules curly whip conditioner. 4) raw/organic coconut oil. 5. Pure jojoba oil.

What are your fave stores to shop? I don't have a specific shop that I absolutely love, but I'm very big on thrift finds. I love thrift shopping; especially in LES (Lower East Side (NYC) and Williamsburg (Brooklyn).

One fashion item you can't leave home without? A scarf & shades. Even in the summer, I love a colorful scarf to put the icing on my ensemble.

Fave things to do on the weekend? EATING!! Either going out to eat with my boyfriend or cooking dinner at home. I think the weekend is the only time I actually have all 3 meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also enjoy going to the movies, or a comedy show. The weekend is the only time I can do any of those things.
